Debden Hash 23 May 2004 Assisted by Clare and John the Debden Dash transmogriphied into a hash this year. We 'recced' the course on the previous Wednesday evening, scandalising the locals by popping out of various shady corners attired in not very much. We marked out the course early Sunday morning and finished liberally decorated in Tesco's finest flour. Thankfully not too many natives are awake at this time, but I guess Clare is now glad she lives in Saffron Walden. We had a splendid turn out of Striders, families and friends, no doubt encouraged by the brilliant weather. The hash course, minus false trails, was approximately three miles through Debden's 'legendary' scenary and we managed to find the odd path (one through the drive of a house) unknown to Striders who run Debden many times. All managed to complete the course one way or another, assisted by Clare personfully dashing about on her bike. A nameless few managed to find some false trails never envisaged by the course markers. 'Apres hash' included a barbecue/picnic on Debden recreation ground, with games for the children (all ages) and a good time was had by all. 'Can we have another' was heard a few times. |
