Frinton Seaside Trip 11 July 2004 Fifteen Striders accompanied by friends and families, forty in total, plus one dog ignored the the threats of rain from the Met Office and enjoyed a dry and fairly warm day with the odd spell of bright sunshine. The tide too was in our favour and gave us acres of flat sand to cavort (it's legal for consenting adults) on all day. Steve White and son were brave (or foolish) enough to brave the North Sea clad in only swimming trunks. Clare, being much more sensible donned her wet suit and had an open water practice for her forthcoming swim in the Thames for the London Triathlon. After much noshing of food and some liquid refreshment, of the kind beloved by Striders, Clare organised a game of rounders. I was involved and failed to grasp what was going on, so what casual observers thought heaven knows. However everyone had a great time and the 'Oranges' beat the 'Apples' by 41/2 to 31/2 rounders. This will give you some notion of my confusion. Will we do it again next year? Very likely! |
