Holcombe Two Towers Fell Race 4m 1400' climb

Gavin Long reports:

Work commitments in the North enabled me to join Steve White for one of his midweek fell races in Lancashire.

The course crammed 1400’ of climbing into just 4 miles, and featured one slope which was so steep that as I scrambled up, I had to grab on to clumps of grass to prevent me from slipping back down.

It was a very friendly event with about 80-90 runners, and Steve and I both finished in the top half (which was no mean feat). The winner came in 10 minutes before me – that means he was 2½ minutes per mile quicker than me!

The 4 hour drive home afterwards was a bit of an inconvenience.
