Eddie's Revenge Fell Race 3.8m 1060ft ascent

Steve White reports:

This race is in its second year, and like last year enjoyed the usual warm sunny Manchester summer weather, with great views over Manchester from Crow Knowl.

Eddie made another appearance from an exile in Yorkshire, and his daughter started the race.

There is no let up in this race as every hill is runnable so it feels like a hard 5k with no opportunity for a breather.

For the second year in succession this small race was won by international athlete John Brown, who finished a comfortable 2 and a half minutes ahead of the second placed runner - which is not a bad margin for a 3.8 mile race! Slightly further behind (only 9 minutes) I finished in 42nd place (85 runners), after a vain attempt to catch the first lady on the final descent.

An interesting initiative was to either pay £3.50 to enter, or get free entry if you brought a cake. This led to an excellent presentation in the village hall, with delicious cakes and tea available to the runners.

Video is available below, Steve can be seen at 2:05 and 5:40. Thats him in the blue top, black shorts, don't blink or you'll miss him!
