Harlow 10m

Gemma Thake reports:

I should have believed the past reviews of this race, and the curse of the baking sun that comes out on the day of the Harlow 10 - this year was no exception … 10 miles in mid 20C heat. Despite this, there was a good turnout of over 400 runners.

It was my first time running this one, although believe it's a new route for those who have run the event before. It was actually quite 'rural' compared with what I was expecting. Uphill at miles 2 and 3, otherwise pretty flat along cycle tracks, quiet residential paths, and country gravel tracks, with a track finish back at the Sports Centre … much like the terrain for our Tuesday summer club runs really!

Compliments to Harlow RC - very well organised, great marshalling and catering. If you can stand the heat, I'd recommend it for next year, as it's one of the relatively few 10 milers in the area, and very easy to get to from S/W.

Verdict: If you like getting sweaty, run the Harlow 10!!
