Manuden 10k

04 October 2009

Richard Auty reports:

The Manuden 10K is an out and back which basically follows a single, winding country road (closed to cars thankfully) out of Manuden to Rickling Green and back.

It's undulating, with a steepish climb at 1K (and therefore downhill at 9K!) and a fair few lesser hills along the way. For a 10K it is particularly well-stocked with drinks stations - there's one at 3K and another just before the 5K turnaround, which means in effect there ae four opportunities to grab water!

It's a mixture of club members (lots of Stortford vests) and fun runners. There's also a 5K and a 1K.

T-shirt and medal for every finisher, plus cakes, bacon and sausage butties in the school afterwards.

There's plenty of parking in a big field right at the start, although be warned that the changing/toilet facilities are at the school a few minutes up the road so make sure you arrive in plenty of time.

I managed a 49:16 PB - Bryn Reynolds came second and when we passed each other (him on the way back, me still on the way out) he didn't even look like he'd broken a sweat!
