Grindleford Gallop 21m

14 March 2009

Paul Burgess reports:

The Grindleford Gallop is a fantastic trail race through the Derbyshire countryside. It starts in the beautiful Derwent Valley, before climbing up to Riley Graves and the plague village of Eyam.

After crossing Longstone Moor, and following the Monsal Trail to Bakewell, there's another climb, which is rewarded with wonderful views across the Chatsworth Estate.

The final section takes in the spectacular Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt Edges, before the steep descent back into Grindleford.

The race is perfectly organised, with friendly marshals providing cakes out on the course, and soup at the finish.
