Ashby 20m

22 March 2009

Alistair Cooke reports:

I was the first strider home in the ALDI - Ashby 20mile road race in Ashby-de-la-zouch, Leicestershire. That said, admittedly I was the only Saffron Strider home as no one else entered from the club. However this is a small consolation prize I'd still like to claim, for my time of 3h 09mins and 38 seconds was a little outside my personal best set at Wymondham just 2 weeks ago.

Probably more to blame for my time was the fact this was the first race this winter/spring to really see a warm temperature (15 degrees+), coupled with a strong breeze. But just to make things a little bit harder for me, my pre-race build up included a round trip to Richardson, Texas USA on business the week before and I'd arrived just over 24 hours before the race started.

Maybe those dunkin' donuts are not really packed full of nutrients!

Suffice to say - this is why the photos are not something I'll be rushing to purchase!!!
