Cambourne 10k

5 April 2009

John Howe reports:

This is a well organised off road event with just 2 very quiet roads to cross. The tracks were mostly hard and wide, with little potential for mud.

Contrary to MY expectations it was decidedly not FLAT, with quite a few long inclines. The scenery, again contrary to my expectations, was very nice.

I would recommend it, but make sure you get your entry in as soon as it opens.

...and Alistair Cooke reports:

A sunny day with a cool breeze greeted 822 runners at the inaugural Cambourne 10k as part of the Cambridge Festival of Running.

A great course headed around Cambourne with a couple of small inclines to test the legs and a few rabbit holes to keep us all on our toes.

A well organised event with a fantastic goodie bag which contained not only a great quality medal but also a t-shirt, a mouse mat, and a fruit and nut bar. Fantastic.

Quite chuffed with my time considering I had run 11 miles the day before, but bit annoyed to find out I was just 4 seconds outside my PB! But well done to John for making it with a whole 2 seconds to spare under the hour and to Carole for keeping the Saffron Striders flag flying.
