London Marathon

26 April 2009

Stephane Toussenel reports:

Thank you so much for supporting me during the last weeks. I have learnt a lot from my fundraising experience and I am really proud of what we have achieved altogether for Barnardo's.

Regarding the race itself, it was different. It was a lovely sunny day and I hope the marathon spectators and everybody else had enjoyed it...but that wasn't the fact for me.

The French man has suffered from the heat, as surprising as it seems. So I made my way on the first half in 1h29 but was hardly hit by the heat and struggled on the second half. I was diving mile after mile and completed the 26.2 miles in 3h26, far away from the 3h00 I was aiming for.

I will find lots of reasons for that...but I am sorry for my friends and family who has done so much for me. It was meant “to be the greatest day of my life” and turned to “the harder is the fall”.

Most important was the opportunity to stop and kiss Nathalie, Emma and Julie on the 24th mile. They have done so much. God bless them...
