Kinder Downfall Fell Race 10m 1971ft ascent

26 April 2009

Gavin Long reports:

Another terrific race in the Peak District. The 11:30am start even allowed a bit of a lie in.

The route was simple enough. Straight up, along a bit and then straight down. It was a tough, rocky opening climb, but we were well rewarded with a fabulous run past Kinder Downfall. The descent was fast and furious but we even managed a sprint finish.

You don’t often get support so far from home, so it was great to get encouragement from Carol, Eric & Steve in the final mile. Still beaming from his stunning Three Peaks performance, Steve’s smile could be spotted 100 metres away.

If you fancy this sort of thing, there’s the 16 mile Kinder Trog on 14 June.
