East Cambs Half Marathon

17 May 2009

Fiona Tideswell reports:

Ten years ago I made my racing debut here, having never run that far before. I finished in 1h56 but was impressed by the friendliness of the well-organised yet small event.

The course starts and finishes in Soham and winds through flat and scenic fenland. Not unlike the terrain at Grunty Fen, it can be unforgiving if the weather is either hot or windy. This morning it was the latter, not to mention wet for over an hour!

I highly recommend this race as a small, fairly low-key event with PB potential depending on the forecast. I just scraped under 1h33 for the first time but the wind made it feel much harder.
