Adderbury Half Marathon

11 July 2009

Fiona Tideswell reports:

This was only the second running (ha ha) of the event but was far slicker than it's debut year... meaning that no one got lost and we all ran 13.1 miles.

It is a multi-terrain event, with approximately four miles on road; the remainder is a mix of farm tracks, broad bean and pea fields (!), tow paths and livestock fields. Add in four stiles and four kissing gates in the last five miles and you may well wonder why I ran it at all!

It wasn't a quick course, thereby more enjoyable because you couldn't chase a time, but had to enjoy the scenery through the three Oxfordshire villages of Adderbury, Bloxham and Milton. A free doughnut for finishers and a T-shirt in your pre-ordered size made for a great start to the weekend.
