Newmarket 10k

03 July 2011

Stephane Toussenel reports:

On a really hot day, one to remember as runners cooked as fast as a Powter sausage (sponsor of the race) on a barbie, Striders were represented by Tim Ellis and Stephane Toussenel. The undulating route around Stetchworth near Newmarket gave few opportunities to find a most needed shade. While legs and spirits could focus on the pace over the first 7 kilometres, it was another story thereafter with a series of uphills towards the finish.

Tim Ellis managed fifth position in his category with just over 40 minutes (40’03, 22nd overall) while Stephane Toussenel found the resources to finish in 42’26 (34th overall), just containing the first lady on the last k.

PS: after tackling 4 miles in Saffron Walden dressed as a minotaur, I am quite pleased to have achieved that!
